Donald R. Faria

DONALD R. FARIA Of Penn Valley, California, passed away April 26, 2004 in Grass Valley, California. He was born January 3, 1921 in San Leandro, California, to Charles and Susie Faria. Donald attended San Leandro High School and Merritt College. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant from 1942 to 1945. He married June R. LeMoine on February 18, 1950 in Richmond, California. Donald worked for 37 years for Pacific Gas & Electric in their general office in San Francisco, California. Donald was president of the Union City Little League in the early 1960s, managed the Castro Valley Babe Ruth League in the early 70s and was instrumental in the creation of the CYO Program at St. Joseph's in Mission San Jose, California, serving five years as athletic director. His hobbies included all sports, fishing and his kids and grandkids. Donald is survived by his wife of 54 years, June R. Faria, of Penn Valley, sons, Steve R. Faria of Placerville, California, Ken R. Faria of Vacaville, California, and Lee C. Faria of Albuquerque, New Mexico, daughter, Julie A. Faria of Vallejo, California, and grandchildren, Andrew and Hannah Faria of Alamo, California, Christopher Faria of Penn Valley, and Taylor Faria and Collin Fisher of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Susie, and brothers, Allison and Carl. A Rosary will be said Thursday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 30, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, California. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Cards may be sent to Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, 250 Race Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
