Estera was one of those kind, gentle ladies who first impressed me with her wise, diplomatic approach to neighborhood issues. And then I saw her artwork. What an incredible being.

I met Estera via the East Bay Women Artists exhibitions as a fellow member. There are many happy times to remember since then. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Estera at her ceremony later this week. And to meeting more of her friends. She was a vibrant, creative, highly intelligent, powerful and wonderful lady. And sorely missed by this friend.

My husband I arrived in California in the summer of 1946 and shortly after met Estera and Lou through Lou McMullen, long deceased, I immediately took to Estera with her rich vibrant voice and warmth. I don't remember what work Lou was doing at the time but we were totally fascinated when he told us of his dream, to establish Music Town. And of course we followed that development with almost as much enthusiasm as theirs.

Unfortunately as time went on we didn't see as much of Lou and Estera as we would have liked because work commitments took us overseas. We resumed our friendship when Lou and I both attented a Sociology conference in San Francisco because at that time he had given up the music store and had started a new career. And it was after that that we managed to occasionally see them and to always try to attend the various art shows that Estera participated in. I truly liked her work, paintings which so clearly reflected her warmth and love of beauty.

A night at the Symphony, dinner at the Hoffbrau in Oakland prior to, some stimulating conversation with good people, a keen eye and ear for good art musical or visual, my friend Steve, his parents Lou and Estera, and me with my parents - what wonderful times we had together, and what wonderful people Lou and Estera were - I will never forget, and neither will my parents. Your parents were two of a kind, Steve. I learned much from you and the close relationship you had with them. They will be missed. Thank you for the fond memories Mr. & Mrs. Roseman, and thank you Steve for sharing them with my family. We were blessed to have known them.

My aunt: beautiful, transcendent, eloquence that spoke through her words and eyes, full of love and humor and life and wisdom, unique beyond measure.

Our Mamita was a walking talking piece of art. Her colors, her movement, her smile, the warm timbre of her voice, her unexpectedly beautiful and deep was of saying things---she was a shooting star and we will indeed love her forever.
