Harriet G. Moore
Oct. 11, 1920 - Aug. 2, 2018
Resident of San Leandro
Harriet G. Moore passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2. She was born and raised in Greenwich CT, was a graduate of Rosemary Hall High School, and then Bennington College where she majored in sculpture. Harriet was an extremely accomplished artist, exhibiting her work in galleries and museums across the country. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and the Peninsula Art Museum in Belmont, CA, as well as in many private collections. Her last great project was the towering bronze statue of St. Francis of Assisi, which now stands in the Italian village of Assisi. Harriet also had a passionate devotion to family and to the world of nature—sharing hikes, swims, and camping trips with her children and grandchildren. She was also a wonderful teacher who was loved and appreciated by countless students. Harriet is survived by her three children, Christine, David, Marguerite; her three grandchildren Sean, Moore, and Naomi; and her two great grandchildren, Makayla and Elina. A memorial service will be held at the Japanese Gardens in Hayward, CA. 1:30PM on September 23.
