Horst (Joe) Emmerichs
July 4, 1938 - July 20, 2018
47 year resident of Concord
Horst (aka Joe the Toe) Emmerichs passed away at home, July 20th, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 80. He had been battling Alzheimer's but through it all, he never lost his amazing love for people and his beautiful disposition. Joe was born in Leverkusen, Germany, and worked for Bayer. He moved to Walnut Creek with his sister, Hannelore, and attended high school at Las Lomas. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany where he met his wife of 58 years, Dietlinde. Upon completion of his military service, he moved to the Bay Area permanently in 1963 with his wife and two sons, Thomas and Michael. He loved family and was blessed with daughters-in-laws, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. For 49 years, he worked at Pacific Steel Casting Company, retiring as President, making many friends and memories along the way. Joe's famous catch phrase was "Excellent", and he lived his life that way. He was a devoted lover of God and people, and his love will carry on through all the lives he touched.
There will be a viewing from 10:00- 11:00 and a service at 11:00 on Wednesday, 8/1/18 at Ouimet Bros. Funeral Chapel 4125 Clayton Road in Concord. Memorial gifts Hospice East Bay www.HospiceEastBay.org. Their wonderful care allowed our husband/dad to remain at home surrounded with love and comfort.
