December 30, 2020
Resident of Walnut Creek
John (Jack) Louis Regan, loving husband, father, and grandfather died peacefully on December 30, 2020, at the age of 93. He was born in Oakland, California on December 21, 1927, and lived there for the majority of his life. After graduating from St. Joseph's High School in Alameda in 1945, he attended Santa Clara University for one year before enlisting in the army. He was stationed in Korea for one year where he drove an ambulance and entertained the troops by playing the piano. After returning from Korea he went back to Santa Clara University, graduated in 1950, and obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was a dedicated accountant who worked his entire life helping people in any way he could. He married Esta Lorraine Dickson on August 3, 1957. Their lives together began in Oakland where they had 3 children. They eventually moved to Walnut Creek, CA to be closer to their children and grandchildren where they resided until he passed away. They were happily married for 63 years.
He was a fun-loving man who was dedicated to his family and never wanted to miss a party or family event. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and could be found every night enjoying his vodka on the rocks, with a twist. He had a passion for driving fast cars, a Porsche and Mustang among his favorites.
He loved spending time at the family cabin in Lake Tahoe where he taught his children to water ski and snow ski. He spent lots of time at Chamber's Landing, arriving in style in either his '46 Willys Jeep, '61 Chris-Craft Miss Behavin', or flying by overhead in his twin-engine Seneca airplane.
He is survived by his wife Esta Lorraine Regan, daughters Christine Regan Hosley (David Hosley) and Sharon Regan Waal (Robert Waal), son John Edward Regan (Margaret O'Reilly-Regan), brother Edward Regan and sister Anna May Regan. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Meghan, Kelly and Caitlin Hosley, Colleen, Steven, and Michelle Waal, and John Patrick Regan.
There will be a memorial service at a later date to celebrate his life. A private funeral service will be held on January 14, 2021, for immediate family only.
He will be forever loved and missed by everyone. Please send condolences in John Regan's name to your preferred charity. View the online memorial for John Louis Regan
