1926 - 2019 Obituary Condolences
Pedro "Nieves" Oliveros
Nov. 20, 1926 - May 9, 2019
Resident of Oakland
Dear Pop, El Presidente,
You will leave a big hole in our hearts. You not only were a great father and protector, you helped build a community in Oakland. You worked on building the Oakland Coliseum and the Nimitz freeway. You were one of the pioneers in the community, arriving here in Oakland in the 1940's.You worked hard and long hours, holding down two jobs as a longshoreman and at Albers Milling Company to provide for your family of nine children. You made a point to show us your birthplace, Mala Noche, Zacatecas, Mexico. We will always remember your laughter and your beautiful voice as you sang Mexican songs while playing your guitar.
You were always there for us and for others. You opened your house to others and you were willing to help others who needed a helping hand. You got to see all of us together in your last days in the peacefulness of your home as you listened to Mexican corridos.
Pedro "Nieves" Oliveros is survived by his wife, Concepcion, of 71 years and his children, Margarita, Tony, Elisa (Pilin), Pedro (So), Rosarito (Loche), Manuela (Peya), Rita, Amparo, and Cruz.
He is also survived by his grand-children, Sarai, Ramon, Emmanuel, Moises, Jasmine, Zuri, Iliana, Christina and Andrea as well as many nieces and nephews, his sister Aurelia, and countless people who considered Pop their father.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation in honor of Pedro on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the vigil service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services, 2694 Blanding Ave, Alameda.
