Ruth E. Garcia
August 29, 1937 - January 22, 2021
Resident of Milwaukie, Oregon
Ruth Garcia passed away peacefully on January 22, 2020 at the age of 83, due to Alzheimer's disease. Ruth Eleanor Langskov was born in Waterloo, Iowa. Her family eventually settled in Santa Barbara, CA where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of Oregon and San Jose State University, where she met the love of her life, Jim Garcia. They lived most of their married life in Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek, where they raised their two daughters, Renée and Paula.
Ruthy went back to school mid-life to realize her dream of finishing her nursing degree. She was an exceptional nurse, working in the Cardiac Care Unit of Mt. Diablo Hospital and then for a private Cardiology practice. She was well loved by her colleagues and patients alike.
After her retirement, Ruthy was very involved in her local Poodle rescue organizations and doted on her beloved Standard Poodles. Her compassion and dedication was apparent in everything she did.
Ruthy was preceded in death by her husband, Jim. She is survived by her daughters, Renée Stilson (Mack), Paula Maybee (Sean) and grandchildren Olivia, Ahna, Kelsey and James.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society of the United States or Front Range Equine Rescue.
