Thomas Arthur Boster Obituary
Thomas Arthur Boster
Resident of Moraga, CA and Honolulu, HI
Passed away at age 79 on August 24, 2016, surrounded by his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. A resident of Moraga, California & Honolulu, Hawaii. Born in Columbus, Ohio on September 28, 1936. He attended Bexley High School, Bexley,Ohio class of 1954. He was on the varsity football team and captain of the track team. He attended Capital University on a football scholarship, graduating in 1958 with a B.S. (Physics & Mathematics). He attended Ohio University, M.S.'60 and PhD.'66 Tom worked at Northrup Corporation and Lawrence Livermore Laboratory . He especially enjoyed his work at the Neveda test site. He later left and founded Boster, Kobayashi & Associates, a safety engineering and accident reconstruction company, based out of Livermore, California. Aside from safety issues and reconstructing cases for attorneys, insurance companies and private individuals he was a noted expert witness on many high profile cases. His work took him all over the United States and to foreign countries. Tom was a mentor to so many people and a charismatic guest speaker. He was a very witty and enthusiastic storyteller; his ability will be remembered for years to come. He was also known for "Bosterisiums"and many friends urged him to write a book. Even though Tom achieved great success in his life he never forgot his roots and fondest memories of family in Mudsoc, Ohio. When growing up he was very proud of being a Lutheran Sunday school teacher, working at Johnson's Ice Cream in Bexley and spending hours building his tree house with his dog Poochie in tow . Later in life while living in Livermore he never gave up on his love of exercise, be it volleyball, tennis, or running with his beloved Redbone Hound dog Coco. If you were to ask Tom about his favorite things he would say Blue Grass music, playing tennis, traveling and caulking. He received many professional honors in his lifetime but the one he was most proud of was being "Papa". He really enjoyed his grandchildren. He loved reading to them, doing chalk drawings on the garage doors, painting the side fence with funny faces or just sitting and talking with them on any subject.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard T. Boster and Dorothy K. (Heffner) and brother James E. Boster (Jeanie) all of Columbus,Ohio. He is survived by his brother Jerry A. Boster (Carol) of Pleasanton, California. Survived by the love of his life his wife of 54 years, Roberta (Barbara) Boster, and daughters Karen (Brian Courtney) of Atlanta, Georgia, Barbara (Michael Kreutzelman) of Orinda, California, Susan (Anthony Simpson) of London, England. The lights of his life were his seven grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
At his request services were private.
We want to thank Vitas and the others whose help was so loving and caring to his end.
