Georgia Laurie Williams
April 08, 1952 - July 25, 2016
Resident of Concord, CA
Georgia, passed away on the morning of July 25, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. She entered into rest peacefully, She had an indomitable spirit which helped her survive long past the original prognosis. The youngest of 3 children Georgia was born in Berkeley on April 8, 1952 to Fran and George Zurilgen. Georgia lived in Walnut Creek, CA, for most of her life where she attended Ygnacio Valley High School and earned an Associate Degree at Diablo Valley College.
After settling in Concord in 1991, Georgia became a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association and began her business Bunny Central which she maintained all the way up to the time of her death. She raised and showed prize winning pedigreed rabbits, sold rabbits as pets and entertained children at parties with her lovingly cared for and prized bunnies. Through the magic of bunnies she brought joy and laughter to all ages.
Georgia had a tender spot in her heart for all animals and was well known for her efforts when rescuing and caring for chickens, birds, dogs and cats at one time or another throughout her life.
Georgia was also an avid horse lover and rider. She was active in the Orinda Horseman's Association from nearly the beginning of the club, She served on the Governing Board numerous times and participated as a valued member for over 40 years.
She met her husband Lenny in 1988 and married in 1991. They had no children of their own but into their home they welcomed many young people who needed love and affection and a guiding hand which Georgia was always first to offer. Georgia knew how to walk a mile in another person's shoes and that made her a very compassionate and understanding person. She was known to take the part of the underdog on many occasions and was loyal and steadfast in an extraordinary way. For that generous humanity she will be greatly missed.
Georgia is survived by her husband Lenny Williams; mother Fran Zurilgen; brother Steven Zurilgen; sister Beverly Heathorn; nieces, Denise Zurilgen and Kimberly Dillon, nephew Benjamin Heathorn and godson Clifton Broussard.
