Funeral services for Brennen Jasso, 15, of Portales, will be conducted at10:00 AM, Saturday December 27, 2014, in the Elida Gymnasium with Pastor Johnny Pacheco officiating. Burial will follow in the Elida Cemetery with Andy Jasso, Aaron Jasso, Brady Jasso, Tyler Jasso, Kaull Burton and Steve Stroud serving as pallbearers.
Brennen's teammates and many friends will be honorary pallbearers.
Bennen Monroe Jasso was born November 3, 1999, in Clovis, NM to Sandra (Powell )and Raul Jasso and died December 22, 2014, in Lubbock, TX as the result of an auto accident. Brennen lived in Elida until the end of his third grade year in school. At that time he moved to Bixby, OK. In 2012 he moved back to Portales and attended Portales Junior High School. This fall he had begun his freshman year at Tatum High School. Brennen loved sports, and played football and basketball as well as competing in track. He excelled in track, competing in the 400 and the 100 hurdles. His favorite NFL team was the New England Patriots, and he was a diehard Texas Longhorns fan. As for a basketball team, he was an Oklahoma City Thunders fan. Besides sports, Brennen enjoyed playing his X-Box and being with his numerous friends.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sandra and Gilbert Baca of Portales and his father, Raul Jasso of Tatum, NM; two brothers, Brady Jasso of Tatum, NM and Tyler Jasso of Roswell, NM; a sister, Britnie Powell of Portales; his paternal grandparents, Emma and Emiliano Jasso of Elida; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Opal and Monroe Gilmore and his maternal grandmother, Vernell Powell.
