Willie Ronquillo Obituary

Mr. Willie Ronquillo, 72, of Texico, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

He was born June 29, 1933, in Los Ojitos. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1959 and in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1979. He was the city marshal of Texico in the 1970s and sheriff of Guadalupe County for eight years. He was a member of the American Legion and AMVETS.

Family members said he loved fishing and liked to play pool every Saturday with friends at the Amvets.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ronquillo of Texico; three daughters, Charlotte Ortiz of Albuquerque, Cindy Goodwin of California and Nora Ortiz of Texico; one son, Willie Ronquillo Jr. of Virginia; two sisters, Antonia Gallegos and Gloria Perez, both of Clovis; two brothers, George Zamora of Belen and Horacio Zamora of Clovis; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

A rosary service be at 7 p.m. today at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Ortiz, Karl Gonzales, Arnold Chavez, Anacleto Ortiz and Tommy Ortiz.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
