Carol and family. We just found out about Ken's passing. We are so thankful for having had the opportunity to share some time with Ken over the years. His constant smile and ever present wit were welcome additions to many shared occasions including our annual killer eggnog celebrations and the Nait Chem Tech ski trips. We have so many great memories of Ken. His painting of my old lobster fishing buddy Nathan Bigney and his pet skunks in River John will be a lasting legacy of his talent and love of life. He was a special person, and did indeed show how to lead a life well lived. Thank you for sharing Ken with us.

So very sorry to hear the news of Ken's passing. Mom and I sure enjoyed the time we spent with the Valens family - they were special cousins to Mom! Condolences from Karen Collins & Ruth McKay family.

Carole and Family The news I received recently of Ken's passing, prompted a flood of memories that reminded me how much the gift of his presence enriched and influenced my life. Ken was a colleague and friend who shared his humour, wisdom, knowledge, experience and friendship freely. His love of life and people shone like rays of sunshine into our days. It was my privilege to have shared office spaces and to have worked together with him as a colleague. Even though our life paths diverged, eventually, for me Ken remains one of those unforgettable persons whose positive influence remains and whose imprint I am thankful to carry!

Our thoughts are with Ken's family, he was such a great role model to both his family and the NAIT students and staff. We will always remember his positive attitude and his sense of humour. He was a pioneer in NDT in Alberta.
