Dolores Jesurún Obituary

Dolores "Lolin" Jesurún passed away at home with her family after a protracted course of kidney cancer. A Borinqueña, she was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on March 17, 1922 to Dra. Dolores Piñero and Celestino Lopez. She graduated from Chestnut Hill College and subsequently obtained a Master's Degree in Microbiology at Catholic University of America. In 1947 she married young Lieutenant Harold Jesurún, MD who had just served in World War II and Korea. An "Army wife", she and her family were stationed at the United States Military Academy, Denver, Battle Creek, San Antonio, San Juan, San Francisco, Tacoma and Frankfurt, Germany. After Dr. Jesurún's retirement from the army, the family settled in El Paso. Lolin worked for the Holder Company as a real estate agent. That she "liked to move to a new house" was an understatement! A subsequent move to Houston increased her wealth of friends in the antique world. This love of antiques and dolls led her to start her business "Old Whims and New Fancies". She was an active member of the Sun Country Doll Folks of El Paso for many years. She leaves behind many friends and acquaintances that will miss her laughter and love of life. Lolin is survived by her four children: Dr. Antonio Jesurún (Dr. Nancy Németh-Jesurún) of El Paso, John Jesurún of New York City, Maricel Weller (Dr. Robert Weller) of Quincy, IL, and Richard Jesurún, of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: David and Cristina Jesurún, Daniel, Amanda, and Joseph Weller, and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Animal Rescue League of El Paso who gave her her beloved "Chope." A Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 12:00 PM at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa. Interment to follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr., El Paso, Texas 79912. www.MartinFuneralHomeWest.com

Lolin was the most special Jesurun ever. She made me feel like I was her son. Laughing and smiling and asking about my life. I am sorry others didn't get to know her like we did. I know I now have a special angel to pray to when I am feeling down and out. Wow what a life she lived. The best way to honor her is to take a piece of her and add it to ourself and re-dine who we are. The result will be a better person.person

Tony, Johnny, Maricel and Richard,
My heart and love go out to each of you in the loss of your beautiful Mother. I included her in my Mass prayers this morning as the Lord has brought her home to Harold. I know they are both happy souls now to have been reunited, after just a few earthly years of separation.
She was one high energy, vivacious Lady who always had a smile on her face. Her thoughtfulness in sending memorable pictures of our Father's single days; was a delight to all of our Family. She took the time out to do this and this touched my heart. Your Mother's laugh was infectious and her high level of energy made me wonder where her energizer was hidden. She was a true Lady and I know each of you will find plenty of memorable moments in her life, to keep her alive in your hearts. Laugh and Cry together as you share her moments in your celebration of her life. She is watching down on each of you and letting you know that she loves each of you and that she has reached a better place; so have joy in your heart that she is at peace with Harold and our Lord. Vaya Con Dios Aunt Loline.

How sad to hear about your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing both your parents well and of having your dad as a wonderful boss during my years at Thomason. You all will be in my prayers.
