Elizabeth Betty (Young) Taber Obituary
Betty has left her earthly body and is now enjoying eternal life free at last from all pain and afflictions in the presence of God the Father and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her family misses her dearly, yet we rejoice that she is now where she longed to be. Betty was born and raised in El Paso, and attended Austin High School and Hollins College. Among her accomplishments she served a term as President of the Junior League of El Paso and was a founding owner of Tres Mariposas, a women's dress shop. She was known for her generosity with the time, talent, and especially the treasure allotted to her by giving to family members, and to others with boundless love. It was far more important to her to give, help, encourage, and share the love of Christ with others than to hold back for herself.
She was predeceased by her husband Wally, her parents Sam and Betty Young, her daughter Betsy (Bill) Miller, and her brother Sam Young, Jr. She is survived by her loving sons Rob (Karen), Doak (Carrie), and David (Tami) Hoover, and loving daughters Ruth Sprout and Erin (Bob) Moss. She leaves behind her grandchildren Doak (Neil) Sergent, Holland (Dax) Kastrin, Rob (Peter) Sprout, Megan (Keith) Smalbill, Kelsey Sprout, Nicole (Mark) Ahmann, Ryan (Melanie) Hoover, Shelly (Chris) Hubble, Wick, Elliott (Sara), and Sarah Hoover, Mitchell, Wick, Cheyenne, and Nicolai Moss, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her family's deepest appreciation and gratitude go to her long-time faithful companion and caregiver Maria de Lourdes (Lulu) Armendariz and to her sweet and gentle companion and caregiver of recent days Guadalupe (Lupita) Limas for their devoted loving care for Betty.
A very outgoing person who loved social events, gatherings and celebrations, Betty enjoyed most of all doing so with her family, her many friends, and her brothers and sisters in Christ of St. Clement's Church. A favorite activity of hers was playing bridge with her sisters-in-law Louann Feuille and Mary Hoover and with her close friends. She was especially fond of traveling with groups that included her family or friends. A highlight of her travels was a trip to the Holy Land of Israel with a group from her church led by Bishop Terrence Kelshaw.
A memorial service will be held at St. Clement's Church on Sunday, September 23 at 2:30 PM. Honorary pall bearers are Dr. Branch Craige, Dr. Muneer Assi, Dr. Eugenio Armendariz and her grandsons. In lieu of giving flowers donations may be made in her name to the Church of St. Clement, 810 N. Campbell St. El Paso, 79902.
