Erma Lee Edwards Obituary
Erma Lee Edwards, 88, went to be with her Lord on Monday January 7, 2019. She Passed away at home at 12:57 in the afternoon with her children by her side.
Erma was born on December 18, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA to Mary Caldwell. At nine months of age she went to live with her loving foster parents Howard and Sarah "Pop and Mom" Johnson who raised to adulthood.
She was educated in Philadelphia public schools where in junior high school she met James, who she married in 1965. She graduated from West Philadelphia high School in 1948 and attended Temple University Community College. As a young woman Erma moved to Harlem, New York, NY and worked for the famous Macy's New York. Upon returning to Philadelphia she worked for the Veterans Administration. Years later she worked for The El Paso Water Company and The El Paso Fire Department, retiring in 1989.
She was a beloved member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Erma Edwards was preceded death by her husband James Thomas Edwards Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory two loving and devoted children; son, Jerome Edwards, daughter; Donna Edwards both of El Paso, cousin George McColley, niece; Geraldine Wilson (Joseph) of Philadelphia, cousin; Harold Stephens of Chicago, Il, Nephew; Gilbert Noble (Sybille) of Memphis, TN, Niece; Sandra Noble of Atlanta, GA; the Bundick Family of Philadelphia, and many others who were like family and whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm with a Funeral Service to be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday January 15, 2019 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Committal Service to follow at 2:00 pm on Tuesday January 15, 2019 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Please Visit our online register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net
