Joseph N. Main Obituary
Joseph N. Main ,77, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on May 15th, 2018. Born June 13, 1940, Mr. Main was a long time resident of Santa Teresa, NM, a former chief of the Santa Teresa Volunteer Fire Department and had a thriving CPA practice in El Paso.
Born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Cleveland, Joe moved to El Paso in the mid-1960's with his first wife, Barbara. After divorcing in 1972, Joe married Betty Jo Endlich in 1974 and the two were together for 32 years, until her death in 2006.
In addition to his 16 years of service to the Santa Teresa Fire Department, Joe was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of The University of Oklahoma, where he studied accounting.
If you were fortunate enough to have known Joe, you'll miss his incredibly funny, dry sense of humor, and his love for B-rated movies, Monty Python, Benny King, and old westerns. He was "Doofy" to Betty Jo's "Doof" and he would sit cross-legged on the floor in a room full of couches and drown his sorrows in an ice-cold Pepsi. Joe was a generous man who would give freely of his time and would provide business advice to all who asked.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Else Main and Arlington and Clara Nessley; his father, Jack Peter Main, mother, Eleanor Virginia Nessley Main, wife, Elizabeth (Betty Jo) Main, and daughter, Kirsten Main.
Joe is survived by his sister, Virginia "Jinny" Main Huml (Roger) of Northfield, OH, and five children, Todd Cohn (Amy) of Minneapolis, MN; Kyle Main (Cody) of Albuquerque; Kimber Hirsch (Lester) of Santa Teresa, NM; Joseph Main, Jr (Cassandra) of Santa Teresa, NM; Chris Main of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Asher, Alyssa, Jack, Lauren, Madeline, Joshua, Alexa, Charlie, Tristan, Christina, and Preslie, and great-grandchildren Rohan, Kirsten, and Aurora.
Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service at the Santa Teresa Fire Department on Tuesday, May 22nd at 5:00PM. As Joe would have wanted it, this is a pot luck, so please wear casual dress and bring a covered dish if you are so inclined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joe's name to the .
