Patricia Jack (Guynes) Adkins Obituary
"My life will not be a journey to my grave arriving demurely in a well preserved body. I plan to skid in sideways, my body totally worn out, used up; silk scarf around my neck, burrito in one hand, glass of scotch in the other, smiling from ear-to-ear, hooting Woo Hoo! -- what a ride!" Pat Adkins
Our beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully at the age of 93. She was the daughter of pioneer El Pasoans Jack Tillman Guynes and Margaret Brady Guynes. Pat was a loving mother to Trisha Adkins Ainsa (Mike) and Lee Adkins, three grandchildren, Mike, Andy, and Michaela, and five great-grandchildren.
Pat was a brilliant scholar, business entrepreneur and lively and entertaining world traveler. She obtained her doctorate at the University of Colorado and served children with special needs through training teachers at UTEP and directing early learning centers. She owned and operated Oriental Imports in El Paso and Adkins Village Patio in Ruidoso. Her uncanny ability to find the unique and interesting was legendary. Pat traveled the world and somehow found time to serve on the Planning and Zoning Board, Junior League, PTA President, Ruidoso River Project, and Lincoln County Humane Society. She will be deeply missed.
At Pat's request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, please support her beloved animals at the Ruidoso Animal Shelter, Humane Society of Lincoln County, PO Box 2832, Ruidoso New Mexico 88355.
