Obituary Condolences

Rachel R. Ammons, passed peacefully on her 83rd birthday, Thursday Dec. 13th, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. As head of a fourth generation El Paso family she lived in El Paso most of her life. Rachel worked and retired as CFO of the Bauman Outdoor Advertising Co. After retiring she moved to Ruidoso, NM. She was preceded in death by her mother, Amparo Hernandez, husband, William J. Ammons, brother, Manuel Hernandez, step daughter, Betty Jo Ammons Gouch and grandson, Derrick Reece Nelums. She is survived by brothers Steve and Benjamin Hernandez; children Raul Castillo (Irma), Sherry A. Valdez (Rick), Edith N. Garcia (RT), Joseph R. Nelums (Margaret), and Dale R. Nelums (Priscilla), 4 step children, Rick Ammons ( Diane), Steve Ammons, Patty Ammons Buff and Kathy Ammons, 24 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was a former member of the El Paso ABWA, the Pilot Club of El Paso, the Ruidoso Hospital Auxiliary, the Ruidoso Federated Women's Club, the Ruidoso Red Hatters, a volunteer tax preparer in Ruidoso, and various line dancing groups. Former member of the First Assembly of God Church in El Paso, Cornerstone Church and the J Bar J Country church in Ruidoso, and most recently Grace Presbyterian Church of El Paso. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. The Ammons Family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 17th, 2012 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Kaster-Maxon & Futrell, 8817 Dyer St. El Paso, Texas 79904. Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Service and Interment will be held on Tuesday Dec. 18th, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
