Obituary Condolences

Apolonio M. Esquivel, El Borego, 75, succumbed to complications of surgery surrounded by his family on April 4, 2014. He reunites with his wife Ramona, who preceded him in death. Polo was a self-taught carpenter who worked as a general contractor for 30+ years, helping build countless homes in several neighborhoods all around El Paso County. Even after his retirement, he was quick to volunteer to help when family and friends needed anything built or remodeled, displaying the many skills for which he was so often sought out. After the passing of his beloved wife, he surrounded himself with loved ones, continuing to be the nucleus of his family unit. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters, his children and their spouses, Gloria Santistevan (Jack), Guille Juarez (David), Gracie Rodriguez (Tony), Yoly Zermeno (George), Aggie Moreno (Jaime), Mari Castaneda (Frank), Mona Juarez ( …Ruben), Laura Dominguez (Javier), Polo Esquivel (Virginia), Ramiro Garcia (Rosie), German Garcia (Lupe), as well as numerous grand and great grandchildren. As in life, he faced his death with a quiet strength and determination. "My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it." Clarence B. Kelland.
