Obituary Condolences

Joseph Wallace Fields, Jr. (Jodie) of Clint, TX died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the age of 85. Born November 22, 1928, he was preceded in death by his parents: former County Clerk, Joseph Wallace Fields (Wally) and former Clint Postmaster, Fern Churchill Fields. Jodie was a lifelong resident of Clint, TX and a graduate of Clint High School. He farmed cotton in Clint and the Lower Valley for over fifty years. Jodie served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict and was stationed in Alaska. He was a former member of the board of directors of the First National Bank of Fabens, TX and was an active member of the Bond Memorial United Methodist Church in Clint, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Susan Botsford Fields and two children: Mike Fields and wife Holly of Horizon City, TX; Linda Fields Makrides and husband Nick of Manassas, Virginia; five grandchildren, Alexis Makrides, Kaitlyn Makrides, Lauren Makrides, Zach Fields, and William Fields; special sister-in-law, Sally Botsford. Pallbearers are Zach Fields, William Fields, Kody Ashenfelter, Jarret Rogers, Jose (Pepe) Ruiz and Jesus Gomez. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Britton, Buddy Jack, Gene Strachan, Bill Fields, Guy Fields, Jerry Rogers, Raymond Jones, Casey Rogers, Vaughn Cochran and Benito Rodriguez. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bond Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 185, Clint, Texas 79836. The family wishes to thank Rosa Mancha, Jim and Carla Voiland, Araceli Velez, Esther Rivera and Esther Montoya, Norma Realzola, Leticia Pasillas, Ayuda and Primavera healthcare givers and Envision Hospice for their loving care and concern for Jodie over the course of his illness. Visitation: 4-7:00PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at San Jose Fabens Chapel. Committal Service: 10:00AM, Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery West Shelter with Military Honors and officiated by Reverend Janice Kahl.
