RICHARD PERRY Obituary
Richard Eugene Perry, 70, of Hereford, TX passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 in Amarillo, TX. Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, April 16, 2015, with Family Visitation being held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Burial will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Castro County Memorial Garden Cemetery. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 17, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend T. C. Broom and Pastor Robert Burke, officiants. Arrangements under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, TX. Richard was born on December 11, 1944 in El Paso, TX, to Eugene Jack and Lois Marion (Kehn) Perry. He married Linda Kuntz on June 10, 1978 in Dimmitt, TX. He served his county in the U S Navy, aboard the USS Chicago (Missile Cruiser), he served for 4 years active and then transferred to Navy Reserve. While in the Navy he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Richard worked for Raytheon Corporation for over 30 years, working in locations in Andover, Mass., El Paso, TX, Johnstown, PA, New York City, NY, Tennessee, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Richard then started his second career by receiving a Culinary Arts Degree at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Richard volunteered with Special Olympics as a coach, and with Hereford Senior Citizens Festival of Trees showing his train display. His hobbies included working on jigsaw puzzles, watching the Texas Rangers and NASCAR Racing, reading, and baking, doing all these while on his wheelchair and on oxygen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
