Edgar Burr Obituary

Edgar "Eddie Rex" Burr

Clint - Edgar "Eddie Rex" Burr was born in El Paso, TX on November 3, 1945 to Edgar Ross and Helen Elizabeth Burr. He went on to be with the Lord December 22, 2020 at age 75.

E.R. spent his life Cow Punchin' and Cow Truckin'. As a kid, Eddie Rex and brothers J.V. and William E. were sent many times by their Dad, Ed Ross, on a train to the ranches owned and leased by Ed in Chihuahua Mexico. The boys would spend summers on the Esperanza and Los Charcos Ranches. All they would take with them were their horses, saddles and a sack of beans. E.R. also rode colts and worked on Ed's ranch in Sierra Blanca, TX and for Ronald Anderson in Rocky Ford, CO.

E.R. served proudly in the United States Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion 26th Marines active duty from 1965 to 1968. After his 13 month tour of duty in Vietnam, E.R. remained on reserve duty until 1971 when he was honorably discharged. E.R. married the love of his life, Sandra Bean, on November 1, 1968 in El Paso, TX. As Owner & Operator of E.R. Burr Livestock Transportation, he was best known for loading a little heavy and finding back roads around ports of entry to deliver cattle in good condition and in a timely fashion. In his later years, after retiring from Cattle Hauling, E.R. slowed down and worked on ranches in CA, AZ and mostly NM, until his health and full retirement moved him back to town from a ranch in Southeast New Mexico. E.R. enjoyed dancing to Bob Wills music, Rodeos and a good sunset.

E.R. is survived by his wife Sandra of their home in Clint, TX, son Bubba (Ed) and wife Christy of Stratford, TX, sisters Susan and husband Bill Hightower of Ancho, NM, Elvaree Elizabeth and husband Ben Drake of Lake Isabella, MI, brothers Martin Thomas of El Paso, Bean Lamberson and wife Martha of Houston, TX, William Edgar and wife Roberta of Dewey, OK, grandchildren Preston Ross, Laynee Evan & Zane Perry, as well as several other cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and outlaws. E.R. was preceded in death by his daughter Sue Anne, Father, Mother, sisters Carol Ann, Judy Helen, Linda Kay and brother James Virgil. The family wishes to encourage folks to remember E.R. in their own special way. Due to restrictions, there will be no gathering services. In lieu of flowers, please support your local Department of Veterans Affairs.

Debido a restricciones, no habrá servicios.

Mr. Burr,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the USMC in Vietnam with 3/26 in I Corps. The history and accomplishments made by you and your fellow Marines of the “Old Corps” back then are what all us Marines who followed in your footsteps have always tried to live up to. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Semper Fi Devil Dog!
