George Munier Obituary

George A. Munier, 80, Labadie, formerly of Webster Groves, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in Washington.

Mr. Munier was born Oct. 3, 1932, in St. Louis, the son of the late William Munier and wife Martha, nee Vogel.

He received his education from Beaumont High School. On May 25, 1958, Mr. Munier was united in marriage to Nancy Gettel in New Orleans.

He served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Munier was employed by IBM for 32 years as an engineer. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Mr. Munier was preceded in death by his parents, William and Martha Munier; and brother, William Munier.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Munier, Labadie; three sons, Michael Munier, Labadie, Leonard Munier and wife Cathy, Goldsboro, N.C., and Chris Munier and wife Ann, Kirkwood; two daughters, Susan Franchello and husband John, Washington, and Joanne McCown and husband John, Eureka; one stepson, William Ainsworth, Kirkwood; one sister, Patricia Sage and husband Dave, Kansas City; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. John's-Gildehaus Church, Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Brian Hecktor officiating.

Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Louis.

Memorials to Father Valentine Young of the Capuchin Fathers, Chapel at the Alverne Hotel are preferred.

The family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
