Poway Wherever the light of your life beamed, The earth sprang forth joy!In the early hours of August 25, 2018, David Lee gracefully and mercifully passed in the loving arms of his wife, Wendy Sue Hawkins. Family members gathered before his passing with well wishes and uplifting memories.David Lee was born in Twenty Nine Palms, CA, the second child of four. Raised in a Marine Corps family, brought up by his father Major Robert Dee Hawkins and his mother Nina Joan Hawkins, he had many experiences living near Camp Pendleton, Twenty Nine Palms, Ft. Sill, OK, Quantico, VA, and MCRD where the family resided in Poway, CA. In 1977, he graduated high school at Abraxas. David married and settled in the Monterey area where he had two children, Jennifer Lynn and Weston Robert. He ran a successful auto mechanic shop and was a master at his skill. He moved on to Blue River, OR, where he purchased and maintained grandpa's grounds. This is where he learned, as a child, to ride horses, do chores, fish, and enjoy his summers with his brothers and grandparents.David met the love of his life, Wendy Sue, in 1995 and they married April 29, 2015. He has three grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews. David taught us all to laugh heartily with his never ending humor, he played hard, worked diligently, and gave generously.Please join the family to celebrate David Leo Eugene Hawkins' life with a potluck and refreshments at the home of his mother, Nina Hawkins: 14612 Fairburn Street, Poway, CA on Saturday, September 29 between 1PM and 4PM.
