Troy Shafer Obituary

Troy Dean Shafer, age 38, of Harborcreek, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, April 28, 2019. He was born in Erie, on August 18, 1980, the son of Timothy and Janet Shafer.

Troy was a 1999 graduate of Harbor Creek High School and graduated from Penn State Behrend School of Business. When he first moved to Nashville, he was a big fan of, and sang with, his dear friend, Billy Falcon. Troy was a gifted contractor, and was well-known for his restoration work on historical homes with his company, Nashville Flipped.

Troy's faith was an important part of his life. He also loved the music of Elvis Presley and Huey Lewis and The News. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed Erie's chicken wings. Troy treasured time with his cat, Marlow, and his dogs, Theo and Frankie.

In addition to his parents, Troy is survived by his brother, Tim N. Shafer (Katie); one niece, Samantha Shafer; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his baby sister, Tania René Shafer; and his grandparents, John M. and Beulah Shafer, and Nick and Mary Butchkosky.

Private arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd. Memorial contributions may be designated to Best Buddies of Tennessee, 1585 Mallory Lane, Suite 208, Brentwood, TN 37027, or to an animal shelter of one's choice.

To the family of Troy,
My deepest condolences to each of you. I so enjoyed his show and everything he did. I just returned home from a Celebration of Life of a dear friend who fought cancer for 2 years. She was 62 and I thought that was too young. But oh my, Troy left way way too early. May your memories help ease your sorrow.

I'm sorry to hear of Troy's passing. He was a great guy. We worked together in Erie years ago at Best Buy. The best memory of him was when we were all together and out of nowhere he pulled out his harmonica and started singing Piano Man! We were blown away at his talent. Years later we ran into each other and he told me about his show. I'm glad he had the opportunity to follow his dreams and do what he loved. He will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. To his family and loved ones, please accept my deepest condolences in this time of tradegy. He'll forever be in our hearts and memories. RIP Troy.

May 8, 2019

Absolutely heartbreaking to hear of his passing. Nashville Flipped has been one of my most favorite shows to watch, his personality was so warm and inviting. May he rest in eternal Peace and may his family find solace in knowing he was beloved by many.

May 8, 2019

Troy was my sister's next-door neighbor. I've spent many afternoons on her porch watching Troy load and unload his truck while we all talked about his projects or how to fight the weeds in the yard or how to stop the cars from driving so fast down the street. However, my most prominent memory is at Halloween. Troy loved Halloween. My niece always loved Mr. Troy's spooky decorations. She especially loved that he would come over and ask if she wanted to turn on the strobe lights or the smoke machine. My niece just turned six and she has known Mr. Troy her entire life- they were friends. He even brought her a special present when he went on a business trip last summer. My niece called me today to let me know Mr Troy was in heaven and that he wouldn't be there for Halloween- and that she'd really miss him.
May he Rest In Peace. My prayers go out to Mr. Troy's family.

May 8, 2019

Tim-- we are saddened and shocked. What a great loss. We loved watching your son on television and know you were so proud of him. Our hearts go out to you and your family. Mick ('66 Bulldogs) and Lee Manafo
