Edward Merritt Obituary
He was a graduate of Cathedral Prep. Ed retired in 1996, after 40 years with the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked as a registry room clerk. He enjoyed music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Joseph Merritt; and a nephew, Robert Merritt. Survivors include two brothers, John I. Merritt, wife, Dot, and James R. Merritt, wife, Maggie, all of Erie; a sister, Gail E. Merritt of Erie; a sister-in-law, Kathy Merritt of Wollcotville, Ind.; nephews, Fred J., Joseph, Jeff, John, James E., and James R. Merritt; several great-nephews, a great-niece, and a great-great-niece.
A private service and burial in Trinity Cemetery was arranged by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard. Memorials may be made to the A.N.N.A. Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.

To all the family, I saw Jim last night at my gig at the Faith Cafe in Erie and he told me of Eddie's passing. I was reminded of all the times he and the whole "gang" came to see Lincoln, wherever we were playing; what fans they were, and how much joy they gave us being there dancing and having fun. My condolences to all of you, and my prayers for you are going heavenward, where he surely is. Peace.
