Lawrence Weigand Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” F. Weigand Sr. Lawrence “Larry” F. Weigand Sr., 84, of Erie, died Saturday, December 2, 2006 at St. Vincent Health Center. Born February 24, 1922, in Erie, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Caroline Hersch Weigand. Larry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the manager at the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club from 1961 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church, the Sportsmen’s Athletic Club, the Maennerchor Club, and the East Erie Turners. He enjoyed golf and shuffleboard. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Reymore and Dorothy Baker; and two brothers, Robert and Charles Weigand. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy J. Stang Weigand; two daughters, Linda A. Ciotti and Cynthia M. Weigand both of Erie; a son, Larry F. Weigand Jr. of Erie; seven grandchildren, Laurie Steinbaugh, husband John, Michelle Winter, husband Tom, Jeffrey Ciotti, wife Jennifer, Carrie Engle, husband Scott, Dr. Danelle Cayea, Christian Cayea, and Christina Bell, husband Joseph; and seven great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Brugger Home for Funerals LLP, 1595 W. 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd. on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be held there on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, PA 16505 or the Our Lady of Peace Endowment Fund, 2401 W. 38th St., Erie, PA 16506. Mrs. Weigand and Family,
Larry was my first Boss, I remember the fun and enjoyment,we had at work. mom (Eileen Kalinowski, passed away 3 years ago) worked with him for years, my Dad Joe,(passed away this July) also played the accordian there for sometime. He was a wonderful man to my whole family. My prayers are with him and his family.
