Walter T. "Bud" Hughes

Obituary Condolences

...willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.(2 Cor. 5:6)

Walter T. "Bud" Hughes left his earthly home on Saturday, September 8, 2018 after a brief illness at 80 years of age.

Married to Sandra (Thompson) Hughes for 55 years, he was the father of Jennifer Hoderny (deceased) married to Gary, his daughter and sidekick, Aimee Hughes, and his best 'buddy' Paul Hughes (Helen). He was proud to be the grandfather of Nathan (Danielle) Hoderny, Lauren (Mike) Hill, Brianne (Josh) Clark, Caleb Hoderny, Donna Hughes, and Tracy (Hughes) Stamp (Meshack). He was thrilled to be the great-grandfather of Nicole Hoderny, Benjamin and Emma Hill, Dean, Jace, and Zoe Clark and Claire Stamp. He was the son of James E. and Marion L (Price) Hughes, both deceased. His siblings were John D. Hughes, deceased (Ruth), Joan Borges (Robert), his brother and closest friend, Douglas A. Hughes, (June) and Adelle 'Jamie' Hughes.

Bud had spent over half of his life as pastor/teacher of the Berean Bible Church teaching God's grace and graciousness. Employed by Eriez Magnetics, he retired in 2004. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and 12 years in The Army National Guard.

Bud was ready, eager and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory… for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Cor. 4:17-18.)

Family and friends who wish to honor the memory of Walt or Bud, as you may have known him, are invited to attend a memorial reception at Berean Bible Church, 2902 Old French Rd., Erie, from 2 to 4 o'clock on Saturday, September 15th.

In lieu of flowers, you may contribute to The Berean Bible Church or your own church or charity. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Dusckas-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Harborcreek. Share your condolences at www.dusckas-taylorfuneralhome.com.
