John J. "Jack" Haller Obituary

John J. "Jack" Haller, age 82, a 70-year resident of Erie, died peacefully in his sleep, on Monday, April 11, 2016, at his home at Sherwood Oaks, in Cranberry Township, Pa. He was born in Erie, Pa., on April 14, 1933, a son of the late Rudolph and Dorothy (McCready) Haller.

He graduated from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga. Jack then returned to Erie, where he worked as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager for over 30 years. He enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, woodworking, traveling and watching sports.

Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lois (Albrecht) Haller; second wife of almost four years, Marlene (Harris) Haller of Mars, Pa.; and a brother, James Haller of Collinsville, Ill.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Robert) Henry of Las Vegas, Nev. and Susan (Jeffrey) Robinson of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sons, Steven (Sherrie) Haller of Kingman, Ariz., Robert (Debbie) Haller of Freedom, Pa., and John (Michele) Haller of Martell, Neb.; five stepchildren, Susan (Keith) Wilson of Frederick, Md., Sherry (Pete) Renard of Orange County, Calif., David (Kathleen) Weissert of Kalamazoo, Mich., Jeff (Kathleen) Weissert of Mars, Pa., Tim (Loretta) Weissert of Longview, Texas and their families; a sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Devore of McDonough, Ga.; sister-in-law, Gail Haller of Collinsville, Ill., brother-in-law, Paul (Irene) Albrecht of Las Vegas, Nev.; as well as 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a niece, nephew and numerous cousins

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Blvd., and are invited to attend a prayer service there Saturday at 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. George Church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A private family prayer service will also be held in Mars, Pa. at the convenience of the family.
