Mrs. Gurtie Brunise Thomas
Mrs. Gurtie Brunise Thomas, 90, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Troy Health and Rehab in Troy, AL.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2 P.M. at Fairview Cemetery Addition with Dr. Ken Bush officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing. A visitation will follow the service.
Born July 23, 1930 in Pike County, AL. She was the daughter of the late John Warren and Gladys Carroll Holladay. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvie Tubal Thomas and her sons Ronald Warren Thomas and William Britt Thomas and her daughter in law Elain P. Thomas. Brunise Thomas was a devoted teacher for 28 years. She touched many children's lives in Ozark, Alabama, Phenix City, Alabama and Eufaula, Alabama. She retired from Eufaula City Schools as a 1st grade teacher in May, 1991. She was a member of the Frist Baptist Church and the Daughters' of the Confederacy. Her number one love was God. She cherished every single family member. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved sharing stories to anyone that would listen.
Survivors include her sons: Hugh B. Thomas of Eufaula, AL. and Eddie Thomas (Tammy) of Eufaula, AL.; grandchildren: Janie (Matt) Jenkins, Katie (Brain) Boswell, Amanda (Regan) Harp, Morgan (Evan) Wright, Mason (Nicole) Thomas, Taylor Thomas, and Abby Thomas; great grandchild: Samuel Wright.
