Richard Dean "Rickey" English
Richard Dean "Rickey" English, 65, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Friday, January 22, 2021, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 2 P.M., at Southpoint Church with Rev. Chris Toole officiating. Burial will follow in Sykes Creek Baptist Church in Clio, Alabama with Chapman Funeral Home directing.
Born September 6, 1955 in Barbour County, Alabama, Rickey was the son of the late Homer Dean and Connie Sue Arrington English. Rickey was a native of Blue Springs, Alabama. He was a graduate of Barbour County High School in Clio, Alabama in 1973. He attended both Wallace Junior College in Dothan and Gulf Coast Junior College in Gautier, Mississippi. He worked for Ingalls Ship Building, moved back to Barbour County in 1978 to work for American Buildings before changing his course to insurance. He began his insurance career with Farm Bureau in Clayton, Alabama in 1979 which is now known as Alfa Insurance. He received many honors and awards during his 40-year span as an insurance agent. He attended Southpoint Church with his family in Eufaula. Rickey enjoyed traveling, golfing, antiquing, and following college football. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Rickey was preceded in death by his sister Connie Sue Brown and his brother Bobby Jordan.
Survivors include his wife: Janie Henry English of Eufaula, Alabama; his children: Chastity English (Wilson) Cordero of Vancleave, Mississippi, Joshua Richard English of Eufaula, Alabama, Jessica English (Matt) Brown of Opelika, Alabama; 2 step-children: Hannah Henry (Russ) Morrow of Eufaula, Alabama, Collins (Megan) Henry of Leeds, Alabama; 7 grandchildren: Austin Hutson, Chaslyn Hutson, Christian Gilmore, Brinlee Brown, Rylie Brown, Marlie Morrow, Taylor Morrow; 1 great grandchild: Collyn Rae Young; 1 sister: Patricia Ann Bowden of Macon, Georgia.
Active pallbearers will be Matt Mitchell, Claye Baker, Lance Brown, John Calvin Roney, Michael Green, Ethan Green and Sellers Spurlock.
