YORK Philip L. "Dutch" Lighty, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of D. Roberta "Bertie" (Gobrecht) Lighty, York with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 26th. Mr. Lighty was born in York on December 3, 1932, son of the late Kenneth and Mary A. (Lewis) Lighty. Philip was a member of the York High School, Class of 1951 and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Catepillar as a Heat Treat Technician for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the UA Local #786. Butch was an avid sport enthusiast, more specifically, college basketball and professional football, particularly the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, L. Sue Gohn and her husband, Stephen M. of Texas; Stephen J. Lighty and his wife, Catherine B. of York; Lori A. Riccardi and her husband, Stephen J. of York; Jane M. Hartzell and her husband, David W. of York, 11 grandchildren, Thomas Gohn, Jonathan Gohn, Mary Gohn, Sheena Lehman and her husband, Justin, Brittany Faiola and her husband, Joseph, Stephen Lighty, Jr., Tyler Riccardi, Conner Riccardi, Kelly Hartzell, Brooke Hartzell, William Hartzell, two great grandchildren, Dominic and Stella Faiola, and a sister, Jean Williams of York. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Spangler. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Officiating will be the, Rev. David D. Danneberger of Shiloh United Church of Christ, York. Final resting place will be in Greenmount Cemetery, York with full military honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shiloh United Church of Christ Building Fund, 2251 Willow Rd., York, PA 17408.
