Harold E. Hamme

OXFORD Harold E. Hamme, 78, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at The Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Gruver) Hamme, his wife of 54 years. Harold was born April 18, 1934, in Paradise Twp., York Co., the son of the late Josiah J. and Sarah A. (Smith) Hamme. Harold was a member of Paradise "Holtzschwamm" E.C.C. in Thomasville, was a 1951 graduate of East Berlin High School, and retired from Pfaltzgraff. He was a lifelong farmer, and was formerly employed with Paradise Twp., including some years as a Supervisor, Abbottstown Grain and Feed Store, and Nell's Shurfine in East Berlin. In addition to his wife Nancy, Harold is survived by a daughter, Linda K. DeWitt of Dover; a son, Wayne E. Hamme of San Marcos, Texas; a brother, Ervin Hamme and his wife Eleanor of Staunton, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Hamme; and a sister, Miriam Houser. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc, 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with the Rev. Paul Guiliano and the Rev. Thomas Bellis officiating. Burial will be in Holtzschwamm Union Cemetery, Thomasville. There will be no viewing, however, the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
