Connor Goonan
East Berlin - Connor Joseph Goonan, 12, was carried away on angel wings, surrounded by his loving crusaders and family on Monday, November 12, 2018, after a courageous year of battling cancer.
Born on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 in Gettysburg, he is a son of Tim L. and Becky A. Rio Goonan and big brother to Daniel and Irelyn. Connor was a home schooled seventh grader with an enormous love for Jesus. He took great pleasure in playing football, baseball and riding his bike. Following in his father's footsteps, he earned his black belt in karate. Connor especially enjoyed camping on the river in the Shenandoah Valley, The Avengers, Batman, Thanksgiving and the color green. He was most excited with the anticipation of Christmas as it was his favorite holiday. A special and precious time for Connor and his Pop-Pop was when they spent together fishing.
In addition to his parents, brother and sister, Connor is survived by his maternal grandmother, Anna Reuter of Littlestown; paternal grandparents, Joe M. Goonan, Sr. and Donna Dice Goonan of Wesminster; uncles, Joseph M. Goonan, Jr. and his wife, Carey, Josh T. Rio and his wife, Roxanne, and Jake V. Rio and his wife, Jessica; and an aunt, Sarah M. Rio; first cousins, Skylar, Zachary, Camy, Andrew, Trevor, Aubrey, Houston and Thatcher. He is also survived by additional uncles, aunts, numerous cousins and many friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 PM Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Bethel Assembly of God, 1125 Frederick Pike, Littlestown. Entombment will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring for Connor, c/o First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 463, Littlestown, PA 17430.

I know it is a bit late. And the Goonan family may never see this. But I want to say, Connor was a great kid. So enthusiastic and full of life. I was unaware of his passing until just today, I was afraid for the worst. Instead, I prayed every night for over a year for his recovery, naively hoping I would hear that he made it through ok. God had other plans however, and may his will be done.
I am sorry to the family for their loss. May Connor rest in peace. I'm sorry buddy.

Connor was always a joy to be around and i will never be able to forget black belt club a year before he was diagnosed with cancer. He always had the best smile on his face and was filled with positive energy.

I know Connor through facebook and my family Margie & Teigan. He is the bravest soldier of Jesus I have even known. He inspired me everyday as I fight cancer. The beauty of this child is not just his loving face and smile but his soul. I am so sorry for your loss. Fly high Connor, until we all meet again.

We have fond memories of Connor and Daniel playing in the neighborhood--just boys being boys. We think of you often and hope you can find some comfort at this difficult time.

Connor was a very good kid. His death hurts and the pain we experience we feel shouldn't be. I take comfort in the lords prayer. The part where it says that "God's will be done on Earth as it is in heaven." I find comfort in this because, in heaven, there is no death, pain, or tears. God promises that he will rid us of this pain we feel and will soon allow us to see Connor again

To Connors loving and devoted families
You each have my condolences and prayers. I can tell you I do not know Connor, never had the honor of meeting him. However, I feel as if I know him, by the way so many of his family & friends have spoken of him. I know Connor was an intelligent, inspirational, well liked / loved person in his community as well as surrounding neighborhoods. I know reading what Connors father, Tim, would post about Connor gave so many hope. Connor didn't seem to allow this diagnosis to control him. It didn't define him. No matter what, he was Connor, the 12 yr old with incredible faith and love for Jesus. Not, Connor the boy with brain cancer. He was bigger than life itself. He inspired me in so many ways. I feel so much better because of Connors life. He may have only been here on earth for 12 short years, but the work he did in the name of Jesus will last many lifetimes. Tomorrow we will celebrate your life, Connor, for those of us never lucky enough to have met you, I hope your family sees the love in numbers and in green.
RIP, an inspiration, a brave young man, a faithful servant of Jesus, a role model for even adults, a child so many people that never knew you but loved you!

Connor lived right across from us in Littlestown. I will always remember what a sweet gentle soul he was. When I would hand out toys or teaching stuff I didn't need anymore he would always think of Daniel and Ireylan first. I'd ask him do you want something and then he'd finally pick something for himself. He was a watcher and liked watching my husband trim the trees. One time Brian asked him if he wanted to try... Connor was thrilled. Simple things made him happy. He was the counselor of the neighborhood... advising kids to forgive each other. They usually did!! Always respectful always loving always kind! He was a very special boy! I know he is with Jesus now... pain free and at total peace. You'll be in our hearts forever Connor!

Tim and Becky it was such an honor to know Conner. Teigan always considered Conner her best friend. I have so many memories of Conner, Dan and Teigan playing. Teigan loved being with your family and Conner was so sweet to her. What a great friend he was. Conner is the one that got Teigan and I to start coming to your church. He surely had a heart for Jesus. He is a kind and gentle boy and will truly be missed. May God give your family peace and strength. We love you all so much!

Dear Goonan family and friends, Tim, you are so right, complete healing now. Getting the grand tour of paradise with Jesus as guide. No pain, no suffering, no headache, no sin or harm ever again. A new home, a new nature, a new body, wow, I'm a little jealous. Think of the joyous reunion we will have when we all get there. Praise God for this young man's testimony. Love you all.. Tony
