John Edward Millett

Hanover - John Edward Millett, 84, of Hanover, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Homewood at Plum Creek.

Born February 27, 1934, in the Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late Russell C. Millett, Sr., and Christine (Cavaliere) Millett.

John earned his Bachelor's Degree in agriculture from the University of Georgia and a Master's Degree in government administration from the Fels Institute, University of Pennsylvania. He retired in 1988 as the executive director of the PA State Civil Service Commission.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served proudly on the USS Intrepid. For many years, he raised pure-bred Limousin cattle on his farm in New Oxford, PA. He was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church where he served on the altar for 40 years and held numerous leadership positions. John served as a role model on how to love God, family, and friends. He enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. He was happiest behind the wheel of his many RV's, camping up and down the east coast.

Surviving are his loving wife of 5 years, George Anna Smith-Millett; sons, Robert (Ann) Millett, and Russell (Jill) Millett; daughter, Beth (Dennis) Koontz; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; step-sons, Wes (Sue) Smith, and Todd (Tanya) Smith; step-daughter, Christina Colgan; and 6 step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Beverly Jane Cole-Millett, who passed in 2012.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018, 11:00AM, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 890 McCosh Street, Hanover, PA. Visitors will be received from 10:00-11:00AM at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to All Saints Episcopal Church, addressed above.
