GETTYSBURG Henry "Hank" L. Byers, Jr., 71, died Thursday evening, March 20, 2014, at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg. Born October 26, 1942, in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Henry L. and Eva Jean (Jacoby) Byers, Sr. Mr. Byers worked for a number of years at the former Gerl Construction Co. in York, and after worked at the PA DOT at the York Driver's License Center. He was a member of the Army National Guard in 1961. Hank is survived by his eight children, Cheryl A. Leggett of Aspers, Valerie R. Dellinger of York Springs, E. Renee Allen of Boiling Springs, Teresa H. Rodgers of Biglerville, Trevor G. Byers of Gardners, Troy L. Byers of Biglerville, Gregory L. Byers of Hanover, and Annette M. Ramsey of York; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rick Byers and his wife, Phyllis of Gettysburg, and Michael Byers of Biglerville; one sister, Linda Torres of Hanover; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. Burial will be in the Bender's Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
