George M. Cassatt Obituary
NEW OXFORD George M. Cassatt, 98, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Luckenbaugh) Cassatt, who died in 1970. George was born August 4, 1915, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Samuel M. and Nina M. (Baker) Cassatt. George retired in 1980 from Hanover Wire Cloth, and was employed at Robert Fleming Construction and at ship yards in his youth. He was a life member of the New Oxford Social & Athletic Club. George is survived by a daughter, Marlene Smith and her husband Lindell of New Oxford; a son, Gary Cassatt and his wife Betty of Gettysburg; a daughter, Barbara Shelley and her husband Randy of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Mary Bly and her husband Barry of New Oxford; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Marvin Cassatt, Sr.; a daughter, Tina Stambaugh; a grandson, Marvin Cassatt, Jr.; and three sisters, Pauline Henry, Helen Cassatt, and Altina Small. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc., 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford, with the Rev. Cynthia A. Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. A viewing will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
