G. Thomas Roberts SOMERSET/ADAMS Obituary
SOMERSET/ADAMS COUNTY G. Thomas "Tom" Roberts, 70, died surrounded by his loved ones Monday afternoon, February 18, 2013, at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville. He was the husband of Sandra Day Roberts, to whom he was married 37 years. Born June 14, 1942, in Wilkinsburg, he was the son of Betty (Mathewson) Walters of Sarasota, Fla., and George A. Roberts, who died February 15, 2013. Mr. Roberts was a practicing attorney serving as a consultant for many firms until his death. He was a graduate with a BS in Metallurgy from Carnegie Mellon and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in law. He was an active member of the PA Bar Association, the Pitt Alumni Association, the ACLU, the USGA, and was a past member of the Gettysburg Country Club and the Seven Springs Club. He enjoyed playing golf, taking care of his pets, traveling, and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife and mother, Tom is survived by his five children, Sue Roberts of Biglerville, Sally Showers of Aspers, Amy Ebeling of Moorepark, Calif., Andrew Roberts of Denver, Colo., and Sharon Phillippi of Rockwood; daughters-in-law, Becky and Colleen; sons-in-law, Alan, Jan, and Brian; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, William Roberts and his wife, Dianne of Sarasota, Fla.; his sister, Mary Elphick of London, England; stepsister, Margaret Griffes; step brother-in-law, Rob See; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Gettysburg Hospital and the Village of Laurel Run, Medic 28, the Biglerville/Bendersville Ambulance Staff, and the Life Lion Flight Crew.
