Marie R. Houck, age 92, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016 at Lutheran SpiriTrust, Hanover. She was born Tuesday, December 4, 1923 in Menallen Twp., Adams County the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Hoffman) Taylor. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Wenksville. She was a stay at home mother for a number of years and later worked ten years as a manager of personal care at Gettysburg Lutheran Home. Marie was a volunteer and leader in Girl Scouts, a medical escort for Lutheran Home residents and an active member of the Auxiliary of the Gettysburg Lutheran Home. She is survived by her husband of 73 years David C. Houck; two sons, Dr. Philip D. Houck of Georgetown, TX, and Charles T. Houck of Lancaster; one daughter, Carol Jarvis, Potomac, Md., six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Evelyn Price of Chapin, S.C. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home, Inc., 111 South Main St., Bendersville. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 9 at Bendersville Lutheran Church, 126 Church St., Bendersville with the Rev. Steven Thomas officiating. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, PO Box 449, Bendersville, PA 17306 or St. Bartholomew's United Church, 1204 Grand Valley Rd., Hanover, PA 17331.
