Helen Lucille Burton

Helen Lucille (Shaffer) Burton, 102, died November 30, 2018 in OKC. She was born August 24, 1916 in Lecompton, KS to Arthur Glenn and Clara (Morris) Shaffer. She graduated from Lecompton High School in 1934, attended Business College, then moved to Tulsa, OK to work as a comptometer operator for an oil company.
She married Thomas (Tommy) A. Burton Jr on September 14, 1940 in Hydro, OK and they were blessed with 76 years of marriage. She worked alongside her husband in the Nazarene pastorate for 57 years as pianist and Sunday School teacher. They pastored in Barnsdall, OK, Fitzgerald, GA, Bartlesville, OK, Hastings, NE, Corpus Christi, TX, South Gate, CA, Waco, TX, Odessa, TX, and Great Bend, KS. They spent retirement years in Bartlesville, OK, Ada, OK and Oklahoma City.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Tommy on October 15, 2016, her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two daughters-Karen and Charles Ewers, Yukon OK, Annette and Larry Bodine, Asher, OK; one son, Paul and Pat Burton, Mustang, OK; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
