Martha Marley Obituary

Fayetteville — Martha Pearl Williford Marley, 94, of Fayetteville, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 11, 2019.
Pearl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She took great pride in her family, especially her loving husband and three boys. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family and friends. Pearl enjoyed sports and played basketball for Mingo High School, in Sampson County. She also enjoyed playing ball with her sons and the neighborhood kids, watching her grandchildren play sports, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Pearl worked in retail sales and retired as a sales supervisor from McCrory Stores.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James A. Marley; her mother, Martha Barefoot Williford; father, Joseph Williford; daughter-in-law, Lina H. Marley; and her many beloved brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Carlton Marley, Sr. and wife, June of Fayetteville; Ronnie A. Marley of Fayetteville; and Donnie Marley and wife, Rachel of Kinston; grandchildren, Carlton Marley, Jr. and wife, Toni of Hope Mills; Bryan A. Marley and wife, Traci of Hope Mills; Carla Carter and husband, Charles of Fayetteville; and Misty Manning and husband, Tommie of Fayetteville; ten great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A Celebration Of Life will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Thomas Fortner officiating. Burial will be held at the Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery following the service.
