Betty Jean (Essex) Erbskorn, 91, of Morenci, Mich., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at her home under the loving care of her family. She was born March 5, 1929, in Elkhart, Ind., to the late George and Sylvia (Dirr) Essex. Betty married John Fredrick Erbskorn on Nov. 27, 1948, in Seward, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2006.

She graduated from Chesterfield High School with the Class of 1947. Betty was a member of Morenci Congregational Church, Morenci Senior Center, and was a life member of the Morenci Garden Club. She was a co-writer of Gardener's Grapevine in the Stateline Observer and loved her co-workers and the kids at Morenci High School. She spent most every day with her great-grandsons, Max and Ro; they put as much joy in her life as she did in theirs. She enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren who live far away on Facebook and FaceTime during COVID. The time that she spent with her family and friends was her greatest joy.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Viola) Erbskorn of Milford, Ohio, and Arthur (Jo) Erbskorn of Morenci, Mich.; five grandchildren, Jacquie, Nicholas, Kara, Jacob, and Kyle; and seven great-grandchildren, Maximus, Roman, Sage, Everett, Jolea, Keegan, and Alex.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mayline Hartman, Ruth Pike, Helen Piercy, Sylvia "Dolly" Boulis, and Nina Fackler; and brother, Earl Essex.

Services for Betty will be private, with Pastor Greg Morrison officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Eagle-Marry Funeral Home - Morenci Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Lenawee.
