Shirley M. Brown, 95, of Wauseon was given her angel wings on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at CHP Hospice in Defiance with her son, Richard, by her side. Shirley was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on May 6, 1925, to the late Albert and Fannie (Wick) Cole. She married Donald Brown on Sept. 26, 1045, and he preceded her in death.
Shirley was the second of nine children. When she was young, the family moved to the Metamora area. In her teens, she worked jobs in Adrian, Mich., and at the Pet Milk Company in Delta, where she met her husband. After that, Shirley had jobs at Wauseon Manufacturing and Lawson's, and worked 13 years as a housekeeper at the Fulton County Health Center until her retirement.
Surviving is her daughter, Beverly (George) Walworth; son, Richard Brown; sister, Janice Ridgley of Lees Summit, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Shirley was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda; son, Harold; five brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be private due to ongoing health concerns.
Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
Memorials for Shirley may be given to Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon or CHP Hospice in Defiance.
