Avis Lindow Obituary

Lindow, Avis

Avis R. Lindow, 87, of Oshkosh, died of complications from breast cancer at the Waupun Christian Homestead on Monday, March 18, 2013. The fourth of seven children of Henry and Alvina (Sonnenberg) Lindow, Avis was born on a farm outside of Clintonville, Wisconsin on December 18, 1925.

For over 30 years she served as the Executive Secretary to the President of National Rivet & Manufacturing Co. in Waupun, Wisconsin. She was a fitness advocate who played women's softball and practiced yoga. Avis also was an avid collector of porcelain statuary. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin at the time of her death.

Survivors include her sons, William (Christine) Fietzer and Terence (Cheryl) Fietzer; two brothers, Wallace and Harold Lindow; and two grandsons, Alexander (Nicki) Fietzer and Nicholas (Amber) Fietzer. Avis was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of both the Christian Homestead and Generations Hospice for all of their love and care.

Avis wished her remains be cremated and that there be no formal funeral services. Memorials to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (2450 W 9th Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54904) or to a charity of choice, in Avis' name, would be appreciated.
