Johnson, Mary Janice
Mary Janice Gould Johnson, age 71, died at Clearview Nursing Home on December 22, 2013, after a battle with cancer. Mary resided in Beaver Dam at the time of her death. Mary Janice was born on August 31, 1942 to George and Lorraine Gould in Beaver Dam, WI.
Mary Janice was a graduate of Waupun High School in 1960 before beginning her studies at University of Wisconsin - Madison, and completing her degree in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis with her internship at the University of Minnesota Hospitals in 1966. She was an active member of the American Dietetic Association and gained specialized credentials in treating diabetes at the Diabetes Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Janice used her education as a dietitian educator, Clinical Dietitian and Director of Dietary Departments in various locations including Worthington Regional Hospital in Worthington, MN, Methodist Hospital and Wesley Acres Retirement Home in Mitchell, South Dakota and Sierra Medical Center, El Paso, Texas. She also worked at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau as a Clinical Dietitian before she retired from Bethesda Nursing Home in Watertown, WI.
Janice enjoyed reading, cooking, needlepoint, caring for her cats, and traveling in the earlier years to Europe and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an active member/treasurer of the Daughters of the Revolution. She was an open minded person who was kind to everyone.
She is survived by her mother, Lorraine, of Hillside Nursing Home in Beaver Dam; sisters, Barbara (Terry) Johnson of Ocala, FL; Kathryn (Lou) Merenyi of San Antonio, TX; and Susan (Jeff) Hovind of Tomahawk, WI; nephews, Michael Johnson and Derek Heilmeyer; and niece, Deana Sweeney.
Janice is preceded in death by her father, George and nephew, David Johnson.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.
