Andrew Schmitz Obituary

Schmitz, Andrew C.

Andrew C. Schmitz, 86, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday evening, November 13, 2012 at his home.

Born January 6, 1926 in the Town of Marshfield, Andrew was a son of the late Mathias and Ottilia Schneider Schmitz. He attended school in Mt. Calvary. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from February 1946 to August 1947. On May 30, 1950, he was united in marriage to Zona Mae Koch at St. Claudius Catholic Church in St. Cloud, WI.

Andrew was an owner/operator for Borden's Dairy for many years. He had also worked at Service Bakery, Wonderbread and at Hayssen Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Rosary, Council 722. He loved to go on drives throughout the area and was passionate about caring for his yard. He also enjoyed music, playing cards, golf, and checkers, and kept active by swimming, boating and especially dancing. His incessant chuckle and infectious laugh will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Zona; his four children, Daniel (Patricia) Schmitz, Cedarburg, WI, Theresa (Thomas) Magennis, Wethersfield, CT, Jane (Michael) MacLean, Verona, WI and Andrea (Keith) Loppnow, Columbus, WI; 10 grandchildren, Christopher and Jaclyn Schmitz, Kelly, Michael and Alisa Magennis, Regina, Daniel and Brad MacLean and Denis and Nikolai Loppnow; sisters, Nettie Pauly and Virginia (Don) Rahmer; brothers, Sam (Helen), Tony (Mae) and Alvin (Donna) Schmitz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sally Wagner and Elsie Sippel, and brothers Albin, Arlyn, Alex, Alfred, Arnold and Alphonse.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 21st & Geele Avenue. The Rev. Philip D. Reifenburg will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will take place in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum of Ledgeview Cemetery in Fond du Lac, WI.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.

The Lippert-Olson Funeral Home has been entrusted with Andrew's arrangements.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Heartland Hospice and Embrace for all of their loving care and support.
