I never heard anything since the time Phil left the Marine Corps until just this weekend. What a sad day for all involved. I was Phil's SNCOIC at QuantVa from about 10/85 until about 10/88. Phil was a military policeman and worked all aspects of work assigned to military police in their line of duties. Phil was one that could always be counted on. A Marine that exemplified superior standards for conduct as a Marine, a man that high personal standards of conduct, and a very good friend that will be missed a lot by me and our family. GOD Bless you Phil Thiessen; Semper Fi!!

RIP my friend and we will take the watch from here.
I will always remember those days when you told me that I was stronger than I thought. You wouldn't let me give up on myself. I will always have a special place in my heart for you.

Phil was like a nephew to us, watching him grow up to be the man he was - a father, a marine, a state trooper. He so looked forward to retirement in Wisconsin. A tragedy to die so young. Our sincere condolences to his family.
