Beatrice "Bea" Grahn Obituary
Grahn, Beatrice "Bea"

Beatrice "Bea" Grahn, age 79 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Markesan Resident Home.

Beatrice was born on September 19, 1933 to Otto and Anna (nee Schwandt) Mildebrandt near Marquette, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marquette and attended rural schools around Marquette and Manchester. She was united in marriage to Alden "Lefty" Grahn on September 29, 1956 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Manchester. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan and a very active member of the Ladies Aid and Bible Study right up until the time of her death.

As a young lady, Bea's first place of employment was at the Ripon Cookie Factory. After her marriage, Bea and Alden farmed on Mackford Prairie, until moving into Markesan in 1991. In addition to being a homemaker and raising three sons, Bea sold Avon in the area and worked as a cook at Mackford Elementary School for over 30 years. She will always be remembered for serving up great meals for the many kids she always thought of "as her own" while usually providing a little extra for them.

Alden and Bea loved to travel, taking many trips over the years with family and friends. They were members of the same card club for over 50 years, where they shared many good times and lasting memories. Bea was an avid gardener and loved to bake. She also enjoyed bowling and attended countless sporting events for her children and grandchildren.

Bea was a wonderful, caring lady who will always be remembered as "Aunt Bea" or "Grandma Bea" to many. She deeply loved her family and friends and loved to have a good time wherever she was.

Beatrice is survived by Alden, her husband of 56 years; her three sons, Dennis "Farmer" Grahn of Markesan, Rick "Winder" (Melanie) Grahn of Markesan and Gale (Renae) Grahn of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Lindsey Grahn of St. Louis, MO, Danielle and Alex Grahn, both of Plymouth, Candice "C.J." Grahn of Madison, Kiah Grahn of Waupun and Logan Grahn of Markesan; her great-grandson, Ryker of Waupun; her sister, Maxine (Milton) Neuman of Markesan; her niece, Diane (Lee) Ladwig of Rosendale; and three nephews, Wayne (Marlene) Neuman of Markesan, Allan (Dawn) Neuman of Wisconsin Rapids and Darrell "Buzz" (Vicki) Neuman of Ripon. She is further survived by the families of her niece and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
