Fond du Lac - Fond du Lac - Mary Margaret Meier, 78, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully on Monday, March 1, 2021 at Agnesian Healthcare's Hospice Home of Hope. She was born in Fond du Lac July 17, 1942, daughter of Herbert and Laura (Wettstein) Ebert. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. Mary graduated from the Saint Mary's Springs Academy in 1960. She married Eugene Meier on October 29, 1960. While in Fond du Lac, Mary worked for Glasso Lightman Company. She and Eugene went on to have 3 daughters. The family enjoyed living in several locations in Wisconsin as well as Scranton, PA and North Muskegon, MI. On one of the many relocations, Mary was a hostess for Mr. Steak in Wausau. In 1976, Mary and Eugene returned to Fond du lac where Mary was a receptionist for 28 years for Dermatologist, Dr. James Schuster.
Mary and Eugene were married at Saint Joseph Catholic Church of Fond du Lac. Mary enjoyed going to and watching the Green Bay Packers (even during the lean years), getting together with friends, participated in local women's organizations, playing bridge, and cooking for her family - her apple pie was a family favorite. Early on Mary and Eugene enjoyed many trips with friends, boating, as well as adventures to Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands. Mary also enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren at the cottage in northern Wisconsin.
Mary is survived by her husband, Eugene W. Meier of 60+ years, three daughters - Carrie (Paul) Hamer, Christine (John) Buell, and Cathie (Scott) Hernandez, eight grandchildren - Elizabeth Hamer, Nicholas Hamer, Stephen Buell, Kevin Buell, Rebecca Buell, Gabrielle Hernandez, Abigail Hernandez, and Emelia Hernandez.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Herbert G. Ebert and Laura C. Ebert, and only brother, John H. Ebert.
If desired, memorials may be sent to the Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Home of Hope, 400 County Road K, Fond du lac.
VISITATION: Mary's family invites relatives and friends for a time of visitation at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and again at Holy Family Catholic Church, corner of Fourth Street Way and County Road K, Fond du Lac, on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Masks are required and social distancing encouraged.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mary will be laid to rest in Chapel of the Risen Christ - Calvary Mausoleum.
