Mary Tourdot Obituary
Tourdot, Mary A.

Mary A. Tourdot passed away on January 16, 2013, at Prairie Ridge in Waupun, Wisconsin.

Mary was born in Troy Township, Sauk County Wisconsin, and was the 11th child of John and Elizabeth Young.

She graduated from Sauk City high school, and attended Normal school. She then taught in a one room schoolhouse in the country outside of Sauk City, Wisconsin.

Mary married Charles W. Tourdot on July 25, 1953, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City Wisconsin.

She stopped teaching and they moved to Waupun, Wisconsin, where Charlie worked and they raised their four children. After Charlie retired they moved to a house they built on land outside of Reedsburg, where they lived out their dream on "The 60".

Mary had a strong Catholic faith which was the foundation of her life.

Mary enjoyed working outside in her gardens, baking and sewing. She was an accomplished quilter, and loved walking in the woods and playing with her grandchildren. Her family came first before herself. If ever needed she was there to help out.

Mary is survived by children, Robert (Diane) Tourdot of Lakeville, Minnesota; Charles (Martyn) Tourdot II of Fullerton, California; Mary (Jim) Fletcher of Waupun, Wisconsin; Daniel Tourdot of Tomahawk, Wisconsin; and her grandchildren, Ellen Tourdot, Rick Tourdot, Becky Brochtrop, Charles Tourdot III, August Tourdot, Stephanie Fletcher, Megan Fletcher, Elizabeth Tourdot, and a great-grandchild, Brooklyn Zepeda.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; a grandson, Robert John Tourdot II; sisters, Margaret Young, Matilda Eith, and Elizabeth O'Connor; brothers, John Young, Herman Young, William Young, Joseph Young, Walter Young, John "Jack" Young and Louis Young.

We celebrate her life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 25, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg, with Fr. Thomas Monaghan officiating. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Reedsburg. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
